1. The Event series ends with a bang. The plot to trim down Earth’s population and make room for Sophia’s aliens from their dying planet is foiled. President Martinez is reconfirmed at the White House while the vice-president’s plot is revealed to the whole cabinet. However, the alien portal works and eventually what seems to be an alien moon (if not their smaller planet) appears somewhere at the middle of the distance between Earth and our Moon. The Event’s style of building suspense is certainly balanced and the cliffhanger series will continue this autumn.
2. Game of Thrones: the rumors and declarations of renewal have been officially confirmed, with another season of 10 episodes in the making. The producers decided to give George RR Martin himself a shot at script writing (well, given that the series follows the story and dialogue so near the books’ letter, there’s no surprise) and his episode will run this June 5th.
3. Stargate Universe: though cancelled, its cancellation continue to raise an uproar with the loyal fanbase. The uproar went up a notch at the news that Sanctuary was renewed for a 4th season, despite its 3rd season ratings that were about half those of Stargate Universe. After a successful first season and a mild second season beginning, Sanctuary (formerly web series Sanctuary for all) went down the drain and lost most of its fanbase. Why Syfy chose to renew Sanctuary at 0.8M audience rating while dropping Stargate Universe at 1.2M is a mystery.
